When it comes to Star Trek fan films, Jonathan Lane is the go-to expert. Since January of 2016, he has written and published nearly six hundred blog entries on Fan Film Factor celebrating the surprisingly expansive world of Trek fan productions. News, interviews, feature retrospectives, creator spotlights, behind-the-scenes photos, crowd-funding updates, editorials, humor...you name it! And if it's not already on Fan Film Factor, rest assured that Jonathan is probably working on it.
Jonathan has enjoyed a long history as a super Star Trek fan, having worked for Paramount's Viacom Consumer Products licensing division as a fan trivia consultant from 1996-2003. He now consults with Roddenberry Entertainment in the same capacity. Along the way, Jonathan has worked with countless licensees, including writing the entire menu for Quark's Bar and Restaurant at Star Trek: The Experience in Las Vegas and creating LCARS animations for their Borg Invasion 4D ride. Jonathan also co-wrote the Star Trek reference book "Starship Spotter" for Pocket Books in 2001.
In the fan film world, Jonathan first appeared as a character in "Voyages of the USS Angeles" in 1999 and later worked on and appeared in "Star Trek: Hidden Frontier." He co-wrote, co-produced, and provided multiple character voices for the award-winning animated Star Trek parody "Stalled Trek: Prelude to Ax'd-We-Are with Mark Largent. Earlier this year, Jonathan made a cameo appearance in an episode of the "Minard" sage and wrote the first-ever Axanar short story, "Why We Fight," illustrated by Mark McCrary.
Jonathan lives in southern California with his wife and son. He is a full-time dad, part-time blogger, part-time professional Trekkie, and has just started doing part-time social media coordination for a mid-level Public Relations firm. In his spare time, Jonathan sleeps...occasionally.
